APRIL AT THE GALLERY: FOR ALL THE SAINTS: 

A Liturgical Art Showcase by Kelly Klages. 

 

Meet the Artist Open House Thursday April 10th.

 

"For All the Saints" is an eclectic celebration of liturgical artwork inspired by the rich artistic history of the Christian church. The word liturgy comes from two Greek words which indicate a work that is done in the interest of the people. Throughout history the church's liturgies and aesthetic forms have served as teaching tools for believers, from the colored paraments and vestments, to the stories of stained glass, to the beautiful and unique musical forms. In modern times, the importance of beauty and value in our culture has waned and often gives way to commercialism, gimmickry, kitsch, and cheapness-- a sickness from which churches have not been immune.

 

"For All the Saints" is an invitation for all to re-discover the role of beauty and art in the truly counter-cultural reflections of the church throughout time, and to consider faith as being worthy of the highest artistic expressions.  LADIES NIGHT IN HOLLAND.  SOLD OUT!  April 19  at Holland Hall

 

The popular evening returns bigger and better than ever.  Lots of vendors, great food, sexy servers and entertainment for you.  The theme for this year is "Some Enchanted Evening".  Tropically inspired menu for the evening includes Salad with Almonds and Pineapple Vinegarette, Island Roasted Yam with Cranberry Infusion,  Marinated Grilled Pork and Sweet Pepper Kabobs served on a bed of mixed rice with a hot and savoury spiced cocoanut side sauce for dipping.  To wrap up, a variety of delectable desserts.  Tickets were $30.00 and went on sale Monday, March 17 at 9:00 am.  As in the past, no tickets were reserved ahead of time.  Tables for 6 or 8 were purchased when selling opened. 

 

CHORISTERS CONCERT in PILOT MOUND

 

The Choristers will present "Music Speaks" an afternoon concert with dessert
at 2:30 p.m. on Sunday, April 20 at Pilot Mound Kin Centre. Adults $10.00,
Students $5.00, 12 and under Free. Tickets at door. 

 

HOMEROUTES CONCERTS and the THAA present YAEL WAND at the Tiger Hills Gallery Friday April 25.

Born in Israel and raised in Vancouver, Yael now makes her home with foxes, bears and wildflowers, in the mountains of northern British Columbia. She navigates the political terrain of the middle-east with the same ease and passion as she does the wilderness of the Canadian west. Her classical vocal training and 17 years of live performance make her a powerful performer. Show starts 7:30. $15 at the door.

May 5 Winnipeg Chamber Music Society Concert at the Kinsmen Hall in Pilot Mound.

 

Performing Hayden's Trio no. 7 and Schuman's Quintet in E Flat Mino Op. 44 and more. Featuring David Moroz on piano, Gwen Hoebig, Winnipeg Symphony Orchestra's Concertmaster and one of Canada's most outstanding musicians on violin, Principal violist with the WSO and the Manitoba Chamber Orchestra Daniel Scholz, Winnipeg's finest cellist, Yuri Hooker and gifted performer, teacher and chamber musician Karl Stobbe on violin.  Special guest, 16 year old protege Jin Sung of St. Claude,  will perform one piece after the intermission.  Tickets only $18 for adults, $9 for students.  Available at the door, or by calling 526-2063 to reserve. 

 

May 6 MATT EPP  IN CONCERT
